The wisdom teeth are the third molars. They are located completely at the back of the mouth and serve to crush food. Generally, there are four, but some people have fewer. In some cases, wisdom teeth do not errupt completely due to lack of space.

A wisdom tooth is considered impacted when fully covered by the gum. An impacted tooth may cause the following problems:
- Inflammation of adjacent tissues; Infection of neighboring teeth;
- Abscess, cyst and caries;
- Pain;
- Difficulty opening your mouth and eating.
Wisdom teeth extraction
It is not mandatory to have your wisdom teeth extracted. If they are well placed and do not cause any problems, you can keep them. However, every case is different. Your dentist will be able to advise you during your oral examination.
