Teeth grinding (bruxism)

Bruxism is an unconscious movement of grinding of the teeth. This grinding or clenching of the teeth occurs mostly during sleep.

Symptoms

  • Wear and abrasion of teeth;
  • Headache;
  • Facial pain;
  • Jaw and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) pain in the morning.

Causes

There is still little information on this, but anxiety, fatigue and stress seem to be common triggers that can amplify bruxism.
