Composite restoration | post-treatment advice

The anesthesia will disappear completely within 2 to 3 hours after treatment. Avoid chewing on the treated side before the anesthesia wears off or you may bite your cheek and hurt yourself.

No medication is prescribed in advance for a dental restoration. On the other hand, if discomfort warrants it, we recommend Tylenol or regular Advil. It should be sufficient to control sensitivity.

It could take a little time to adapt to the new anatomy of the tooth but it should feel normal in a few days.

It is normal to have some sensitivity following a dental restoration. Sensitivity to cold is also common and normal for a period of 7-14 days. You may use a toothpaste for sensitive teeth, such as Sensodyne or Colgate. If you experience pain when chewing, for a longer period of time than 2 weeks, it may be possible that an adjustment is necessary. Contact us and we will welcome you as soon as possible.

Continue your usual hygiene care. Brush and floss daily.
